Stella sees areas for improvement at McLaren: 'Some reasons are structural'

It rained announcements in the Formula 1 paddock on Tuesday. Whereas the silly season is normally limited to the driver market, there are currently plenty of shifts taking place among team bosses. For example, Andreas Seidl is swapping McLaren for Sauber and Andrea Stella is taking over his position. Stella is already naming some areas of improvement he wants to work on.
Areas for improvement at McLaren
"In terms of areas of opportunities, I think we would definitely like to make a step forward in delivering a quick car. Some of the reasons why we haven't been able to do that so far, we know they are quite structural," the new McLaren team boss explained to GPblog and others.
In that area, then, Stella hopes to do something. For instance, improvements are currently underway to the infrastructure, including the wind tunnel and a new simulator. "Completing this business is one of my priorities. At the same time, we want to make some areas of the team stronger. We know it is fundamentally an aerodynamic game," the 51-year-old Italian continued.
Stella also sees possible improvements in the aerodynamic area. "No surprise is one of the areas we want to get stronger is on the aerodynamic side. We have incredible talent there that we possibly need to expand. That's also one of the projects ongoing."
