Alonso ready to offer Aston Martin 'something special' for his part

Fernando Alonso cannot hide his enthusiasm for his new project with Aston Martin. On 13 February, the British team will present the new car for the upcoming season. Alonso is convinced he can offer Aston Martin something special.
It was a big surprise when Alonso suddenly announced that he will take over Sebastian Vettel's spot at Aston Martin from 2023. After two seasons at Alpine, the 41-year-old driver is already parting ways with the French team to pursue his dream elsewhere: winning a third world title.
Alonso has already revealed several times that he believes in Aston Martin's future title chances. Speaking to Marca the Spaniard let it be known that he would not continue if a third title was no longer possible. "I don't think I would accept that. I wouldn't continue if I didn't think we had at least a chance. I don't know if it is a one or 10 per cent chance, but I will only continue because I believe we will have a chance."
Alonso hopes to offer Aston Martin 'something special'
There is very little chance that Alonso will be able to compete for the world title with his new team as early as 2023, but hard work will be done to close the gap towards the top teams. "This is a very competitive environment, so to become champion, you have to offer something special. For my part, I am ready to offer something special and I expect the same from them", says the two-time world champion.
