Toro Rosso's Pierre Gasly thinks that Red Bull Racing can give Honda a big push forward in terms of their development, as the Frenchman thinks that working with one of the biggest teams will help the Japanese.

Gasly has been heavily linked with the now open seat at Red Bull after Daniel Ricciardo announced his departure to Renault. He's reportedly preferred over Carlos Sainz Jr., who doesn't have the best of relationships with Max Verstappen. The two often budded heads during their time at Toro Rosso.

Gasly, who has been somewhat of a breakout star this season, has good experiences with driving the Honda engines, which is why he's convinced that they'll do well in their partnership with Red Bull from 2019 onwards.

"To have four cars instead of two is always better in terms of development and also with such a big team as Red Bull, we know how big and how strong they are. So for sure they’re going to push Honda massively in the direction," he told RaceFans.

"So if we can share all our strengths together for sure it’s going to be positive.

"I think also the work for next year will be starting now because all the improvements we can make at the moment will be useful for Red Bull next year."

Whether Gasly will end up at Red Bull or not, the Honda-Red Bull partnership will definitely be one of the most interesting storylines heading into the 2019 season. Will Red Bull fall off? Will the reliability issues finally go away? Can they mount a serious title challenge? The speculation has begun.
