Sebastian Vettel is enjoying retired life after 16 years in Formula 1 with a whopping 299 race starts to his name. However, it took some getting used to for the four-time F1 champion, with the German missing the competition and the excitement.

After such a long time at the highest level of motorsport, it is probably a "boring" life that the Heppenheimer suddenly found himself in after his retirement from Formula 1. Speaking to Bild am Sonntag, Vettel talks about his retirement: "After being active in racing for so long, I have something like a normal life for the first time."

Vettel misses the excitement of F1

The 35-year-old driver drove his final years in Formula 1 with Aston Martin. They were not competitive years, making his time with the team seem like a farewell of sorts. Vettel now has more time for his family and other goals and ambitions. But in July, he will already make another appearance in a Formula 1 car.

These are older F1 cars which he will be driving during show runs at the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed. Asked if that will help him with his F1 withdrawal, Vettel said: "Not really. Goodwood is not really a race track, but it's nice to get behind the wheel again for a while." So things are going well for the 53 Grand Prix winner. " But," says Vettel. "I miss the competition and the excitement the most."
