No Indy 500 for Verstappen: 'I'll persuade him'
Max Verstappen is currently the big man in Formula 1. This year, he is going full out for his third world title. The Dutchman's contract expires in 2028 and he has already spoken out several times about a possible move to another racing class. Former Formula 1 world champion Mario Andretti, meanwhile, has revealed that he wants Max Verstappen to race the Indy 500.
The Red Bull driver does not yet know what he will do after 2028. He could extend his contract at Red Bull, he might drive for another team in Formula 1, or he might leave Formula 1 for another adventure. The Dutchman has previously expressed that he does not want to drive in ovals, so the Indy 500 does not seem to be an option for the two-time world champion.
Andretti wants to win over Verstappen
Still, Andretti will do everything in his power to bring the 25-year-old driver to the Indy 500, he laughingly told Ziggo Sport: "One of these days I will speak to Max Verstappen after he wins eight world championships to come here and try to win the Indy500. I will persuade him."
