Norris balks at third-place Hamilton: 'He should have been here'
McLaren had a great home weekend at Silverstone. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri qualified second and third respectively and for a long time it looked like both drivers would finish there too, until the safety car came out. Piastri suffered greatly from this, losing third position to Lewis Hamilton, who just got lucky with the safety car. Norris feels his teammate should have been on the podium.
Norris balks along for Piastri
"I feel for him, to be honest. He should be sitting here," Norris said of missing Piastri on the podium after the race. The Australian actually did everything right at the British Grand Prix, but just had bad luck with the timing of the safety car. " if things went to plan and there wasn't a safety car... So it's a bit of a shame."
"He deserved his first podium in Formula 1. I think it would have been amazing for us as Team McLaren and celebrating our 60th anniversary and our chrome livery, you know, all of these things. To share it, I think, would have been pretty special. He deserved it. He's been on top form all weekend," Norris continued.
Norris goes all the way through Piastri
Piastri won both the Formula 2 and Formula 3 championships in his debut year and is known as a good driver. Teammate Norris says the Australian is pushing him to the limit. "Yeah, he's been pushing me an insane amount, which is a good thing. It's raised the level of what we do as a team. But all year, he's been good. You know, it's not like he's just turned up here and been strong. He's been good since day one in the car and makes my life tough sometimes. We did everything we should have done to be P2 and P3. So it's a shame he's not here, too. But yeah, he'll have his chances. He's driving very well."
