Max Verstappen triumphed in the British Grand Prix for the sixth time in a row, but in the 'alternative' F1 Power Rankings championship, the championship leader ends up outside the podium this time.

The Formula1.com Power Rankings judges the drivers after each Formula 1 race based on their performance throughout the weekend. The material in which they do so is disregarded, so it is purely about the driver's performance on Saturday and Sunday.

McLaren duo leave deep impression

Few drivers can say they have driven ahead of Verstappen this F1 season, but Lando Norris is one of them. The McLaren driver qualified handsomely on the front row alongside the Dutchman, from whom he took the lead after a rock-solid start. Moreover, he defended his second place nicely against the attacks of Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton.

Oscar Piastri also pitched high on his team's home weekend. The Australian rookie qualified right behind his more experienced teammate and almost managed to work his way past Verstappen at the start, who was less able to get out of his place. Piastri was on a podium course for a long time, but missed out on the trophy due to unfortunate timing of the safety car.

Alex Albon also drove - not for the first time - an impressive race weekend. He finished every free practice with a spot in the top three and qualified eighth. He refused to give up that spot during the race, which earned him a nice points score for Williams.

Verstappen falls outside the 'podium'

Verstappen recorded his sixth win in a row at Silverstone, but it was not exactly his easiest win of the year. After the race, Red Bull Racing advisor Helmut Marko admitted that the team had made the wrong tyre choice. It still results in a solid 9 for Verstappen, who leads the Power Rankings championship with an average rating of 9.1.
