Piastri on Hungary GP: 'Don't know if we can compete for podium'
- Cas van de Kleut
To say McLaren has made strides since the inaugural Bahrain Grand Prix is an understatement. At Silverstone, the Woking-based team took its first podium this season. Despite that, Lando Norris still criticised the car's handling, and teammate Oscar Piastri also sees room for improvement, he told Speedcafé.com.
Piastri not yet satisfied with McLaren
"The car is obviously a fair bit quicker than what we had at the start of the season. I think it still has quite similar strengths and weaknesses that we’ve started to address, but it still needs some more work," Piastri explained.
Podium realistic for Piastri?
Piastri was among the front men for the first time at Silverstone. He just grabbed next to the podium, but can look back on a great weekend. Still, we should not expect too much according to the Australian: "It’s not like it’s a completely different animal to drive now. So we’ll have our strong tracks; I think Silverstone, with all the high-speed corners, suited us quite nicely. Here is obviously a much lower speed circuit, so we’ll see how we go. I think we’ll try and be optimistic that we can stay more towards the front, but whether we’ll be fighting for a podium again, I’m not quite sure.”
