Max Verstappen is bitter after qualifying for the Singapore Grand Prix. The World Championship leader drove the 11th fastest time, which was not enough for a place in Q3. Verstappen acknowledges mistakes were made at Red Bull Racing.

What is going through Verstappen's mind right now? "Not so much, actually. It was already a difficult weekend, and qualifying went even harder than expected. We had changed a few things on the car, and I think that made it worse than in third practice," the 25-year-old Dutchman jokes in conversation with Viaplay.

The RB19 is not moving forward, and Verstappen struggled immensely in qualifying. He explains what was lacking: "No grip, very difficult to drive. Then you also have no confidence to go on the limit. Under braking the car broke out, and on a street circuit you definitely don't want to have that."

Red Bull hasn't got it together

That two RB19s were eliminated in Q2 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit says a lot. Especially when you realise that Red Bull is still unbeaten this season. That impressive run seems to be coming to an end this Sunday. "We definitely did some things wrong. From third practice to qualifying, we definitely made some mistakes with the set-up. We made decisions as a team and then you pay the price for that when you are already not going very fast."

Verstappen is not very confident of a good result in the race."It probably won't be very much," concluded a disappointed Max. Moreover, a grid penalty is looming for Verstappen.
