Jos Verstappen on Perez position: 'Fortunately I don't have to decide that'
Jos Verstappen is incredibly happy with son Max's third world title. The former Formula 1 driver thinkss that the sprint race in Qatar was mainly about getting the title at one point, and not so much about winning the sprint race.
For Verstappen Sr, this is even better than he dared to dream before. "Who could have dreamt that it happens three times in a row. Insane, this is way beyond our dreams," Jos told Viaplay. "You know it's coming, on a sprint race, with so many safety cars. The excitement was a bit off. But tomorrow another race, we're going to try to win it."
After the second safety car, Jos Verstappen had realised that sprint victory was out of the picture. The World Championship title, on the other hand, was not yet. "By then I did realise [winning the sprint race], that's not going to happen. You have to think about the championship too, you have to reel it in. I did see it's good."
Jos Verstappen on Perez
Perez did not finish in the points. The Mexican crashed out and thus could not revenge a disappointing Friday. Perez is not comfortable this year. What Red Bull should do with him? "No idea, fortunately I don't have to make that decision," he said.
