Schumacher harsh on Perez: 'You can't do that at all!'
- Ludo van Denderen
It was probably the best start of the season for Sergio Perez. The Mexican started his home race from fifth place, but already in the first few metres, the Red Bull Racing driver seemed to make up many places. Entering the first corner, Perez was even next to Charles Leclerc, who was battling Max Verstappen at the same time.
Analyst Peter Windsor was relatively lenient towards Perez on his own YouTube channel. Ralf Schumacher, who gives his opinion on Formula 1 on the German Branch of Sky Sports, certainly was not. At the German channel, seeing the incident in which Perez eliminated himself from the race, he said: "It doesn't go like that! He goes inside, and there is no space there! Where should Leclerc go? This is his own fault."
'Perez should have been more careful'
Given the strength of the RB19 in Max Verstappen's hands, Perez probably threw away a really good result. "If he turns in a bit wider, he will definitely be third, maybe even second. All he has to do is stay on the outside. He is driving way too close to the others as if they were not even there. He should know that," the former F1 driver believes.
Timo Glock, also a former F1 driver and Sky analyst, totally agrees with Schumacher's words. "That was a classic error of judgement. He saw they were both next to him. He should have been more careful and given himself more space on the inside," Glock said.
