At the bookies, you won't get rich betting on a Max Verstappen victory in Formula 1 at the moment. With seventeen Grand Prix victories, the triple world champion is nearing perfection in the 2023 season. On the viewing figures, the Dutchman's enormous dominance does not (yet) have an impact at the moment. Indeed, in the United States, for example, more and more people continue to become interested in the sport.

But for how long, Time Magazine wonders. The influential magazine quoted Kevin Magnussen, driver of Haas F1, and asked him about a Verstappen who keeps winning. The Dane said, "I would get bored of it if I was watching."

Verstappen compares himself to the Chicago Bulls

Verstappen's fans remain enthusiastic. They saw the Dutchman take his 52nd career F1 victory in Brazil last week. Wherever the driver seems to start with his Red Bull, he wins almost everywhere. Verstappen therefore sees it differently from Magnussen. "The NBA survived when the Chicago Bulls were dominating," he said. "At the time, or even afterwards, people are like, ‘Oh, that was amazing.’ If you are a real fan of the sport, you should be able to appreciate a team doing very well."

Time then did point out that the Bulls of Jordan and consorts grabbed three of their six championships in the 1990s with wins in the play-offs that only came about at the very last minute. As close as wins were to a loss in the Chicago Bulls' era, the competition is not currently at Verstappen, the magazine mused.
