Hamilton seems to have answer to Verstappen's jet lag issue
Max Verstappen does not understand why F1 chooses to hold Las Vegas and Abu Dhabi back-to-back. Several drivers agree with the Dutchman, but some drivers cope better with jet lag.
Formula 1 will be in action this weekend in Las Vegas, racing on Saturday night local time. A week later, the drivers have to turn up for the Abu Dhabi GP. On the other side of the world. This is causing Max Verstappen considerable irritation. Why is this necessary? The drivers at the press conference were asked if they were behind Verstappen's statements.
Verstappen gets support from other drivers
"I think next week is going to be a big challenge. I am following my jetlag plan as much as possible. We are all supported by doctors, performance coaches etc," said Pierre Gasly. "I'm currently quite sleepy. I'm getting used to it. The last three Grand Prix were definitely tough for me," said Yuki Tsunoda.
Alexander Albon agrees with Max's words: "It's not easy. It’s also not easy because it's America, and there’s a lot of interest. So you tend to be a little bit busier than most race weekends, and you get pulled around a fair bit. We do the work. We're not as gifted as Lewis with sleep." Lewis Hamilton seems to sleep very well despite jetlag so he doesn't get the question. Sergio Perez hooks into that jokingly, though: "I’ll ask Lewis for some of his pills. He seems to be the only one not suffering with it."
"No, it's not okay. But it's the way it is. It's a tough sport. This is not football," Fernando Alonso joked. After which Lando Norris concludes: "I think it's always been in F1. Of course, there are big shifts and stuff like that, but I'm all right. I'm still young."
