For a while it looked like Sergio Perez would finish in second place in the Las Vegas Grand Prix, but just before the finish Charles Leclerc managed to regain his second spot. It is a blemish on an overall great race by the Mexican, who managed to fight his way back to a podium spot from P11. Christian Horner is therefore positive about Checo opposite Sky Sports.

At the start, Max Verstappen's Mexican teammate still had damage to his front wing after colliding behind Valtteri Bottas. After the second pit stop, Perez was suddenly second, ahead of Verstappen and behind Leclerc. In the end, Verstappen finished first, and Perez had to take a seat behind Leclerc.

Horner proud of Perez after Las Vegas GP

Horner is positive about the Mexican despite Perez being overtaken by Leclerc at the last minute. "You get the benefit in the middle sector, you lose out if you're not in a DRS train. Max was dropping back at the end of the race there to try and give him a bit of a tow. And it just wasn't quite enough today. But coming from the back of the grid, after a nose change on the first lap, I thought he drove a great run," Horner said.

The battle for second place in the world championship has been fought: Lewis Hamilton cannot overtake Perez for good. With this, the Red Bull driver's goal has been achieved. Asked if something is big for Perez, Horner replied, "Certainly, because as a team we've never achieved before. I mean, what more can you ask for from your drivers than first and second in the Drivers World Championship? His pace was right there again today. So, the last two or three races, he's really been finding his form again."
