Full results | Leclerc just a little faster than Verstappen in Australia
Charles Leclerc was again the fastest man during the third free practice session for the Australian Grand Prix. The Monegasque was narrowly quicker than Max Verstappen and saw his teammate clinch P3 on the medium tyre. See the full results of the session here.
In the final phase of FP3 in Australia, the drivers sat down for one more run as usual. All-out to be optimally prepared for qualifying later on Saturday. Leclerc once again proved to be the fastest man. The Ferrari driver was two hundredths faster than Verstappen. Sainz clocked the third fastest time and did so on the medium tyre. On the soft tyre, the Spaniard did not manage to improve.
The Mercedes drivers, with Lewis Hamilton leading the way, complained a lot about their car this weekend, but over one lap the pace still looks nice. Sergio Perez had to concede a lot to his teammate in the third free practice and will have to work to provide himself with a good starting position for Sunday's race.
The rest of the top-ten features the usual names of the McLaren and Aston Martin drivers. McLaren proved to have a good longrun on Friday, but over one lap Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris are still a little short. What is particularly striking is how close it is. The gap between P1 and P11 is less than one second.
