Perez confident about Red Bull talks 'Will be a short conversation'

18 April - 09:01

Sergio Perez is hugely positive about his future at Red Bull Racing. The Mexican driver elaborated on the situation at the Austrian racing team ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix weekend. Perez explained that it is likely to be a short conversation with Red Bull, which is a good sign for him.

Fernando Alonso has extended his contract at Aston Martin, which at least means Perez has one less competitor for the seat at Red Bull Racing. "Every week, the contender is changing. It's just normal I think until things are signed. Everyone is a contender," the driver explained to Sky Sports.

Will Perez extend his contract at Red Bull?

Perez is positive about a new contract at Red Bull. "We've been here together for a few years already, and I think it's going to be quite a quick conversation to know which direction we go, and I think we all want to continue, so I expect it's a matter of time. Given how the market is moving, things are kicking in a lot faster than we all would have liked but it's how the game is at the moment."

The Mexican is doing quite well in the current Formula 1 season. Indeed, Perez is second in the drivers' championship, behind teammate Max Verstappen and ahead of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc. Next weekend, the Chinese Grand Prix is scheduled. What Perez can do there will have to be seen.
