Mercedes are hoping to turn the tide in China. The German team are yet to achieve a podium finish in the first four weekends. Lewis Hamilton will have to do without updates this weekend, though.

No updates for Mercedes

Mercedes did not bring any updates to China, but in Japan 'The Silver Arrows' did learn some lessons about the W15. "Nothing's changed with our car, so it's going be the same car this weekend, but we understand it a little bit more. We look at the last weekend. We did make improvements, and so we’re bringing some of those learnings into this weekend and then on top of that some new direction," Hamilton told Sky Sports.

The seven-time world champion saw Mercedes score just eight points at Suzuka. "I think if we could go back, we would have done things differently. That's the benefit of hindsight and experience, so we'll try and bring that here this weekend and see if we can implement some of those changes. Hopefully that can find us some performance."

For Hamilton, the season has started extremely disappointingly with a seventh-place finish in Bahrain, two ninth-place finishes in Saudi Arabia and Japan and a DNF in Australia. In the world championship, the Briton occupies ninth place with 14 points less than teammate Russell.
