Is Ricciardo preparing for his F1 exit? F1 star enters different industry
Daniel Ricciardo is set to follow in Lewis Hamilton's footsteps as he joins the F1 driver in entering the world of film and television. The RB driver will serve as an executive producer on the pilot 'Downforce'.
Downforce, which has received a pilot order from Hulu, has invited Ricciardo to serve as an executive producer on the comedy. The series follows what happens when the heiress to a dynastic racing team is thrust back into the family business and the hard choices she must make about her family's legacy, in addition to the future of the team, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Alec Berg and Adam Countee will write and serve as showrunners on the potential series. Ricciardo joins Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, alongside Berg Countee and Amy Solomon as an exec producer. Ricciardo's involvement is set to add credibility to the show, and assist with marketing it to the F1 fan base. Ricciardo is already popular among F1 fans, with Drive to Survive's executive producer, Paul Martin, claiming the hit series would not have existed without him.
