Xavi Marcos replaced: Who will be Leclerc's new race engineer?
Charles Leclerc will have a new race engineer from the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix onwards. Xavi Marcos is moved to a new role within the team, and he will be now replaced by Bryan Bozzi.
Xavi Marcos will leave as Charles Leclerc race engineer from the Grand Prix weekend at Imola. It won't be the first time a driver got a new race engineer this season, as at the 2024 Chinese Grand Prix, Valtteri Bottas got a new partner in Steven Petrik.
"Scuderia Ferrari HP announces that, as of Monday 13 May, Xavi Marcos will bring his valuable experience gained as a race engineer with the Formula 1 team to the development of other important company programmes," Ferrari announced on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Leclerc's new engineer will be Bryan Bozzi, and was the Monegasque drivers performance engineer beforehand. "Scuderia Ferrari HP announces that Bryan Bozzi, who has worked in the team for ten years, currently as Performance Engineer to Charles Leclerc, will now take on the role of his Race Engineer as from next weekend’s Gran Premio del Made in Italy and dell’Emilia-Romagna at Imola," the Italian team shared on X.
Who is Xavi Marcos?
'Xavi' was the engineer we heard during Charles Leclerc's team radios on the broadcast, recommending the Monegasque driver what to do on track. He joined Ferrari in 2018, and he was Leclerc's partner ever since the driver joined the team in 2019. The Spaniard was often criticised for Ferrari's notoriously bad strategies, as he was the one communicating to Leclerc.
