The 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps has been rocked by a serious accident at Kemmel, involving several vehicles. Earl Bamber, with his Cadillac hypercar, was the main victim of the crash. The New Zealander made a rather overconfident overtaking move on Team WRT's GT car (with Sean Gael at the wheel), hoping to stay behind Neel Jani's Proton. Bamber and Gael were taken to hospital for medical checks, but are doing well, according to race officials.

After the incident, the race was stopped. There is a lot of damage to the fence as well as a lot of debris lying on Kemmel. Meanwhile, the clock is running. It is unclear whether there is enough time to resume the race. An earlier safety car procedure made the race neutralised for 45 minutes.
