Adrian Newey's signature has been hotly contested for several months. The former Red Bull Racing chief designer has been in high demand since he announced his departure from the Austrian racing stable. German medium F1-Insider recently reported that Mercedes would have made him a "very lucrative" offer.

Ferrari seemed to be ahead in the race for a long time, but Mercedes is hoping to hijack Newey away from the Italians, according to F1 insider. It is reportedly not long until the British engineer makes his decision. He is expected to make a decision sometime next week.

Lucrative proposal Mercedes

The offer allegedly made by Mercedes to Newey is not a small one. The German team even seems willing to offer Newey team shares. They seem determined to acquire Newey. This will not be easy, however, as there are more teams that would also love to welcome Newey for 2025.

In May, Newey announced his departure from Red Bull. The car designer was responsible for as many as seven title-winning cars. There is no competition clause for Newey. If he joins another racing stable in the Formula 1 world, he will be allowed to start immediately.
