Is Verstappen expecting punishment from the stewards? This is what the Red Bull driver says!
- Estéban den Toom
Max Verstappen will have to report to the stewards after qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix following an incident in the pit lane. The Dutchman himself does not expect much excitement, partly because there is enough evidence that he drove according to the rules. By the way, Verstappen starts the Canadian Grand Prix on P2, George Russell took pole.
Verstappen on a possible penalty
When Verstappen was asked about what exactly happened, the Red Bull driver responded to Viaplay: "If you want to join you have to cross that white line, and of course I tried to be as close to it as possible, and the team indicated it was okay. Then we also clearly communicated where I should then fill in, so we'll see."
The reigning world champion does not feel he could have done so many things differently when it came to the moment with Logan Sargeant. "Well, we communicated everything very clearly, so I can also listen back to everything clearly. I don't know what we should have done differently." He is due to report at 18:15 local time (00:15 Dutch time).
Verstappen on Red Bull's race pace
Verstappen will start the Canadian Grand Prix from P2. He will see Russell starting ahead of him on the front row of the grid. "If you are already not the fastest over one lap, it is also difficult to know where you stand in the race. The last few races that has proved a bit more difficult anyway of course, but second starting position is just good."
