After the Austrian Grand Prix, in which George Russell managed to win, Helmut Marko said Red Bull Racing would hit back at Silverstone. Instead, Mercedes took their second victory in a row and Max Verstappen, despite his second place, could not always keep up with McLaren and Mercedes. Red Bull's top advisor therefore dare not be so hopeful about his team's chances again.

The fact that Red Bull is struggling more than it had earlier in the season is clear. Victories Red Bull secure are no longer as clear cut as they were at the start of the season. McLaren is now competing for wins every weekend and Mercedes has also made a big step towards the top.

Marko is cautious ahead of Hungarian Grand Prix

Whereas Marko was still hopeful for the Silverstone race, he is still keeping calm for the Hungarian Grand Prix, he told Oe24: "It won't be that easy. We didn't have the fastest car in Silverstone. We have one problem if not several. But as long as we extend our lead in every race, it'll be fine."

Difficulty for Mercedes in Hungary?

The cool temperatures at Silverstone were favourable for Mercedes, Marko believes. In Hungary, the forecast is for 33 degrees Celsius or more all weekend, according to Weather.com. The Austrian thinks this will be to the Silver Arrows' disadvantage, although he does not dare to put his money on it: "They usually struggle in the heat. But what is normal this season? We're experiencing such ups and downs that we're sometimes at a loss." Concluded the 81-year-old.
