The 2024 Dutch Grand Prix has not even been held yet, but the organisers of the Formula 1 race at the Zandvoort circuit are already looking far ahead. Robert van Overdijk, director of the Dutch Grand Prix cannot guarantee that the contract with the FOM will be extended beyond 2025.

Speaking to De Telegraaf, Van Overdijk was honest about the current state of affairs. "At the moment, the risks are too great, but of course we are doing everything we can to see if we can also organise a race in 2025."

No clarity on future of the Dutch GP for now

According to the director, it is not because of the relationship with Formula 1, but it is still not easy to organise a Grand Prix in the Netherlands. "We are not in sackcloth and ashes, but it is clear that the situation is precarious. It is not because of our relationship with Formula 1, because it is still fantastic. But it is not obvious to organise such an event in the Netherlands, it succeeded in previous years because a number of parties stuck their necks out."

Clarity on whether the Dutch Grand Prix's contract will be extended will possibly not happen during the 2024 weekend. FOM are keen to continue with the Dutch Grand Prix, but the organisers reportedly want more clarity on their partners in the future first.
