Norris names problems with car despite being fastest in FP2
After finishing in P8 in FP1, Lando Norris was the quickest driver in FP2 of the Belgian Grand Prix. The Briton went from trailing Max Verstappen by more than a second to finishing ahead of him by a bit more than two tenths. Still, the Briton was not satisfied with his performance.
After FP2, the one-time Grand Prix winner declared that he is still unsure about his McLaren. "Hopefully I just wake up tomorrow and feel a bit more comfortable with it," Norris explained to F1TV.
"From my side, actually, just feeling like I could just go out and nail it. I'm not quite there just yet," Norris remained self-critical. McLaren on the other hand, did finish ahead of Max Verstappen in FP2, after the Dutchman was the quickest during the first session of the Friday in Belgium. Norris' gap ahead of Verstappen was 0.217 seconds. Oscar Piastri finished second, but the Australian also made a mistake into Turn 7 asked his team to check his floor.
Setup changes at McLaren because of rain?
Following the session, the Briton also remained cautious about changes to their setup. For Saturday's qualifying, rain is expected in the region. "You want to edge towards the higher downforce and I think that's maybe a direction to go in anyway. But I don't know just yet. I'll sit down with my guys and we'll talk about."
