Alonso has high hopes for Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé
During the summer break, drivers have the chance to rest and relax. For Fernando Alonso, he has the chance to follow his favourite football club, Real Madrid, more closely. The two-time Formula One world champion also set the bar high for new signing Kylian Mbappé.
Alonso was very happy with Real Madrid announcing the signing off Kylian Mbappé for his and also Carlos Sainz's favourite team Real Madrid. "[I'm] Very happy after a long wait of six or seven years in which the signing was almost done. He has finally arrived and he will be an incredible reinforcement for Madrid, I hope he is successful," the Spaniard told DAZN Spain, as after the European Championships ended, the Frenchman eventually joined Los Blancos.
The driver who won the world title in 2005 and 2006 has high hopes for the French footballer. "The Champions League is enough for me," Alonso explained what he expects from Mbappé. On his first match for the team, he also scored against Atalanta, winning the UEFA Super Cup final.
Carlos Sainz also sent a message, saying: "You arrived at a team that wins everything, so enjoy being a Madridista, it cost you time to get here... It was about time."
Mbappé at F1 events
Kylian Mbappé has also already attended a Formula One race in the 2024 season. At the Monaco Grand Prix, he was waving the chequered flag for Charles Leclerc, who won his home Grand Prix for the first time. The Frenchman also previously played for the Principalty's football team, AS Monaco. The Spanish Grand Prix is another he has ticked off his list, as he attended the Barcelona circuit back in 2023.
