Qualifying in Italy was a very difficult story for Max Verstappen. In Q1 and Q2 things did not seem too bad, but in Q3 his Red Bull did not cooperate at all. The Dutchman will have to make do with only seventh place on Sunday.

After the session, Verstappen commented on the result in conversation with Viaplay. He himself does not know where he suddenly lost the car. "I don't know. Two new sets of tyres and I had a lot of understeer all of a sudden. My car just wasn't spinning anywhere. Turn 1, turn 4, turn 6, 7. I just couldn't get the car going again."

Lando Norris will start Sunday's race from first place. Verstappen is well aware that this could become very costly for the championship. "We all have ourselves to blame for that," he said of it.

Verstappen has little faith in the race in Monza

The three-time world champion is not very confident about a catch-up race in Monza "The long run was not really very great either. So we'll see. We are now at the back of the pack. We're going to do our best," Verstappen said.
