Max Verstappen has previously said that he would like to take part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans one day. In doing so, the Red Bull Racing driver indicated that he had already talked to Fernando Alonso about it and would love to have his father, Jos Verstappen, on the team. He also sees fellow countryman Nyck de Vries as an ideal candidate.
Verstappen wants Alonso and De Vries as teammates
In an interview with Red Bull sim driver Jarno Opmeer, Verstappen is asked which drivers he would like to drive the 24 Hours of Le Mans with. "One I would like to have in the team is definitely Nyck de Vries. He's fast and he's very light. At the moment, when you're very fast and light, around Le Mans is great," he explained.
Verstappen would love to complete his team with Alonso and father Jos. "I keep joking with Fernando [Alonso] that we want to do it together so that would be quite cool. Then we have got three drivers already. I keep telling my dad that we have to do it. He doesn't want to do it but I would add him in as a fourth. It would be a fun week, that's for sure," concluded the three-time world champion.
Red Bull Racing recently announced Jarno Opmeer as a driver for their sim racing team, Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing. The 24-year-old Dutchman, who is a multiple world champion in his discipline, came over from Mercedes' sim racing team.
