Kimi Raikkonen attended a Formula 1 race for the first time in a long time in Monza. The Finn, who previously competed for McLaren and Ferrari, among others teams, said he is going down a Jos Verstappen-like route. In fact, the former world champion is fully engaged in his son Robin's karting career.

Raikkonen: 'He's having fun and that's the most important'

Raikkonen, who retired at the end of the 2021 season, is now spending his time with his wife and children in Italy. "It's been busy. We moved to Italy, I’ve been a mechanic for Robin [as he settles into karting], Rianna is doing gymnastics, and we have a small one [Grace], so a busy family life! But it’s been great," Raikkonen told F1.com.

Raikkonen regularly shows images of his son on social media, that made many fans already think about Robin following his father's footsteps in the future. But The Iceman himself does not want to think about that just yet. "Ah, he’s enjoying [it]. Everything is going nicely. We’ll see. If something comes or not, who knows? But he’s having fun, that’s the main thing," Raikkonen said.

The Finnish driver has spent 19 seasons in Formula 1 during two terms, once from 2001 until 2009 and then after taking some time off in different competitions, from 2012 until 2021. In 2007, he managed to win the world title with Ferrari a single point ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso, and has a total of 21 Grand Prix victories in his career
