Piastri sets the record over McLaren's debated 'flexi-wings'
One topical debate at the moment is the legality of McLaren's 'flexi-wings'. Given the team's increasing competitiveness this season, the wings on both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri's cars are said to be under discussion. On Sunday, they took the top spot in the Constructors' Championship. In Singapore, Piastri addressed the discussion.
What does Piastri think about McLaren's rear wings?
During Thursday's press conferences, the Australian was asked about the 'fuss' that has been made online over the rear wings. The McLaren driver responded: "I mean, it's legal. As long as it passes all the tests, we get tested a lot, and it passes. I mean, it's certainly not the magic ticket or magic bullet for why we're competitive. But it's legally, It passes all the tests. So I'm pretty happy with it," he said.
Recently, the FIA announced additional research into flexible wings. Nevertheless, this does not faze Piastri. "To be honest, the first time I knew it did that was the same time as everyone else last week. It's not a grey area. It gets tested every week. It's legal. They've got a lot of different tests for the rear wings now. I honestly didn't even know that it did that untill three days ago. In the sport, you find every bit of performance that you can without breaking the rules. I feel like that's what we're doing, and that's what you need to do to become a championship winning car and a championship winning team," the Australian added.
McLaren will look to continue their success once again this weekend, following Piastri's win in Baku last week.
