Kamala Harris is an F1 fan and Lewis Hamilton is her favourite

Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate for the upcoming elections in the United States, has revealed she "loves" watching Formula 1 but admits she has struggled to watch it during the campaign. Her favourite driver is seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton.

Is Kamala Harris an F1 fan?

Harris has confirmed she is a big Formula 1 fan. She enjoys watching the Grands Prix with her family on a Sunday. "It's so good. We love it. Our whole family does," she said on a Howard Stern broadcast.

The current vice president was then asked if it was a campaign stunt. "No. God no. No. Actually, I haven't been able to watch it recently because I am campaigning, also depending on where they are driving, the time of day, you have to wake up..."

She is clear who her favourite driver is: "Lewis Hamilton, of course. He's leaving Mercedes," she said. The Democratic presidential candidate went on to advertise the sport and suggest people watch it. "Once you start...you should see it, you might get hooked," Harris said.

Harris will face Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in the November election. Trump appeared at the Miami Grand Prix earlier in the season, which Lando Norris won. Formula 1 has two more races in the United States before the end of the 2024 season. The teams and drivers will first visit Austin in Texas later this month before going to Las Vegas in late November.
