Formula 1 is at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas this weekend and it's time for qualifying ahead of tomorrow's Grand Prix.
Max Verstappen won the sprint race earlier on Saturday, with
Carlos Sainz and
Lando Norris rounding out the top three.
What happened during the sprint race in Austin?
Max Verstappen has won the sprint race during the 2024
United States Grand Prix weekend. The Dutchman led from start to finish. Lando Norris looked like he was going to limit the damage as much as possible, but he lost second place to Carlos Sainz at the end. Norris came home to finish third.
The sprint race in Austin featured various battles throughout the grid. Norris made a brilliant move at the start to move to second. He came under attack from
George Russell but managed to stay ahead until the last lap, when Sainz capitalised on his lock-up. As a result, Verstappen extended his World Championship lead by two points.
Ferrari jumped ahead of both Mercedes drivers. Haas had a positive result, with both cars scoring points in the sprint.
Sergio Perez moved up to P9, with
Oscar Piastri finishing in P10.
Teams and drivers will get another chance to score points in Sunday's United States Grand Prix.
