F1 Driver Ratings | Verstappen impresses without winning the Grand Prix

After his performance in Austin, Max Verstappen got a 9 from GPblog. The Red Bull Racing driver particularly excelled in the races. In the sprint race, Verstappen controlled from start to finish, and in the Grand Prix, he did everything he could to beat Norris. He succeeded.

Verstappen gets a higher mark than winner Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque made a good overtake at the first corner of the race and then controlled it until the finishing flag, but the rest of the weekend did not go smoothly for Leclerc. He was still beaten by Carlos Sainz in qualifying and the sprint race.

Norris loses points in F1 title race

Sainz gets the same score. Sainz was on the wrong side of the track to benefit from the duel between Verstappen and Norris but had an otherwise excellent weekend.

Lando Norris gets another 7 for his weekend, mainly due to his performance compared to his teammate. In both races, however, Norris again allowed himself to be beaten. First by locking up in the sprint race and then by opening the door for Verstappen at the first corner of the Grand Prix. That's not how you become a world champion.

The lowest mark goes to Sergio Perez, who was again miles away from his teammate in qualifying and races. Red Bull Racing, therefore, lost points again in the championship battle and is heading for third place among constructors while leading the drivers' Championship. That can only be down to one person. There were other unsuccessful scores for Oscar Piastri, Lewis Hamilton, Esteban Ocon and Guanyu Zhou.
