Albon calls for new rule so drivers do not exploit 'Verstappen trick'

Williams driver Alexander Albon has an idea about how to eliminate controversy in the future that was brought up following the battle between Lando Norris and Max Verstappen at the Circuit of the Americas. Albon understands that his former teammate, Verstappen understood what he did was within the rules, but believes a new rule should be introduced.
Albon in favour of extra rule and different types of circuits
Following Lando Norris' maneouvre on Max Verstappen in Turn 12, the British driver received a five-second penalty for overtaking his rival outside of the track. Albon believes in the future, a driver who would be in Verstappen's shoes should also be given a time penalty.
"I think that it's tricky because he's not technically… He's still in control, but it's still off the circuit, so there must really needs to be some kind of sentence around if you end up going off the track yourself, there needs to be some kind of fall back or give back position or something like that," Albon told F1TV ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix weekend.
According to the Thai driver, drivers understand what they are doing, and that certain tracks allow that top happen. "We shouldn't even be talking about it really. I feel like the way the tracks are designed now, it allows us to do so much. And as drivers we are playing it to the rule book and we know what we're doing, there's no hiding that."
Albon believes there are certain tracks where this has been fixen thanks to the addition of gravel. He also named Red Bull Ring as an example. "Whether if you're the car in front and you squeeze the driver off, we know what we're doing. If you're the car on the outside blaming the car squeeze you off and stay on the outside, we know what we're doing. So in some ways we just need tracks that don't allow that."
