Hamilton struggles to give a tip to Norris: 'Verstappen has no weakness'
Lewis Hamilton has reflected on the 2024 F1 title fight between Lando Norris and Max Verstappen. The seven-time World Champion insists his compatriot can bridge the 47-point gap to Verstappen, but struggles to give advice on exploiting the Red Bull driver's weaknesses.
"It's really exciting for the sport," Hamilton said in the press conference ahead of the Formula 1 race in Brazil. "The last couple of years have not necessarily been so exciting with Max just leading the way and that sometimes happens. But I think it's been really exciting for the fans to see that it can go right down to the wire at the end of the year. There's still a possibility of Lando catching up," said the British driver.
Can Hamilton identify Verstappen's weakness?
Hamilton has battled against Verstappen for the World Championship himself. In 2021, they had an intense tussel which saw them come together on track numerous times. Hamilton believes Norris can close the gap, but knows he will have a hard job. "I read somewhere I think he's got to get 11 points more or something in each race of these next races, which is definitely possible with the performance they have. We all know Max and his strengths, and I can’t really say too many weaknesses if any," Hamilton added.
Verstappen's battle with Norris has been heated in the last couple of weeks. In Austin, Norris got a five-second penalty in a battle between the two drivers, while in Mexico, Verstappen got punished with two ten-second penalties. "Obviously everyone knows what happened in the last two races. Everyone will have their opinion on it, but at the end of the day those two drivers know what they're doing. I'm really excited to see what happens over these next races and I'm just hoping that I can at least have a good seat view to watch it all as they'll be ahead," Hamilton concluded.
