Having fought many battles on track in the past, Christian Horner knows perfectly well what Lewis Hamilton brings to the table. Red Bull Racing's team principal shared his verdict on Hamilton's move to Ferrari, and looks forward to seeing how it will play out.

The blockbuster transfer was announced before the 2024 season got underway. Now, after completing the final tripleheader of the current year, Hamilton will join the Maranello-based team to begin a new challenge in his career. "It would be very interesting to see how Lewis acclimatises to the life of Ferrari. He's obviously coming out of a very comfortable environment, one that he knows very well over the last… more than 10 years," Horner began to talkSport about the move.

According to Horner, a driver like Hamilton could never be counted out as a potential challenger for the world championship, having won it seven-times in his career. "Charles Leclerc is, again, another very fast driver. But Ferrari is a team that looks like they're picking momentum up. And so, for sure, a driver of Lewis's quality is always going to be a challenger."

'Hamilton might will join at the right time'

Moreover, the British team principal also believes Hamilton might have made the correct call once again, after his previous switch from McLaren to Mercedes led to him winning six titles, and also finishing second in the standings twice, in 2016 and in 2021.

"I think Ferrari... He could be just jumping at the right time. I think he's obviously seen things that he's chosen to change teams for because he believes in the future of Ferrari. So that's going to be fascinating to see how that plays out," Horner concluded.
