In mid-February, the cars for the 2025 Formula 1 season will be unveiled in London at the O2 Arena. Max Verstappen said while streaming that he hoped he would be sick that day. However, during a press event in Las Vegas, where GPblog was also present, he said it was actually a joke.

In 2025, on 18 February in London, Formula 1 will host a launch event with all F1 teams, revealing all the new cars for the upcoming season. At first, the Red Bull driver did not seem particularly eager to attend the event, but he put that into perspective in Las Vegas, where the Grand Prix will be held this weekend.

Verstappen "joking" about the F1 75 event

"No, I was joking on the stream and then people always take it too seriously. I think it's great for Formula 1 that all the cars are there with the liveries and it gets all announced. We are there as well so for me, no. I made a joke that I was hoping that I was sick and everyone thinks that I mean that is the case. Let’s see how it goes. It's never been done before," the Dutchman explained.

Verstappen was also asked if he was happy to see some more of the British media in his press conference today, with the Dutchman making a comment in Brazil during the post-race press conference about the lack of British media, saying they must have had to catch an early flight. Verstappen also addressed this in Las Vegas, saying, "Well, they've always been here. Just I think in Sao Paulo the flight was quite tight."
