After the first free practice session in Abu Dhabi, it has been revealed that both
Williams drivers
Alexander Albon and
Franco Colapinto will receive grid penalties.
Qualifying for the final
F1 race has not even started yet, and grid penalties have already been handed out to multiple drivers.
Charles Leclerc previously incurred a 10-place grid penalty after the
Ferrari driver's team had to change his energy store.
Albon and Colapinto will also take grid penalties after swapping gearboxes. Both drivers will incur a grid penalty of five places. It has been a long season for
Williams. Albon, Colapinto and his predecessor
Logan Sargeant have suffered with multiple incidents this season, stretching Williams to the max with part availability. Even in Australia earlier in the season, the British team could start with one driver as they had no spare chassis due to Albon's crash.
