Uncertain times ahead for Franco Colapinto. While Red Bull Racing and Visa Cash App RB seemed like a possibility at some point, with even Alpine jumping into the mix, the trail has grown rather cold following several accidents in Brazil and Las Vegas. Whatever the future may hold for the Argentine talent however, he is sure of one thing, no one will ever be able to take the nine Grand Prix he took part in this past season.

Colapinto endured a rather turbulent start to his F2 season earlier in the year, but he was able to come to grips with the new car halfway through his campaign in the junior series. After Logan Sargeant's dismissal following the Dutch Grand Prix, the young rookie from Buenos Aires came into the fore to take the American driver's place in the Williams Racing team. So, in short: it was a hell of a ride. "It was very exciting. It was my dream come true, you know. And since I started in Monza, I knew a lot of things had to happen and I had to learn a lot and I had to keep moving forward," Colapinto opened up to GPblog.

Commenting on his earlier form, Colapinto speaks confidently: "Looking at the bigger picture, I think I did a pretty good job. I tried to maximise the opportunity that Williams gave me. It was an incredible chance and I think something I respect a lot. James and Sven, everyone in the team, put the confidence and the trust to give me a seat and to give me that opportunity."

Colapinto admits mistake

Since Brazil, though, the young Williams' star's time in F1 soon started to unravel with two heavy crashes in the wet in Brazil, and another massive crash in Las Vegas. Even so, Colapinto chooses to look at the positives of 'his dream coming true', and dares to look onward into the future with 'curiosity.' "Yeah, I think Vegas was quite tough. Being tough on me, I think, it was a pretty big mistake going for it in the last lap in Quali, trying to put the car in Q3. That's where I look back and I just think that some mistakes could have been avoided, but I think looking at the overall picture and the experience was my dream come true. So, yeah, very excited to see where the future departs."
