Verstappen nostalgic after Red Bull departures: 'The dynamics have changed'
Jos Verstappen has never shied away from saying anything that is on his mind. In 2024, that was on show once again as Red Bull went through a turbulent season due to an inconsistent RB20, along with Christian Horner's allegations of inappropriate behaviour in the workplace. It saw some key departures from the Austrian's top team, and Verstappen had his say on the chances it brought.
For a decade, Max Verstappen has been associated with the Red Bull family, with the result that Jos has also been with the Austrian team for a decade. From that first moment until now, a lot has changed, especially in the last few months. Valuable top staff like Adrian Newey and Jonathan Wheatley left, leaving Verstappen Sr. feeling nostalgic while in conversation with Formula 1.
"How the team was, it is obviously not like that anymore, after some veterans made a career switch. That does make the dynamics a bit different for me," Jos Verstappen states. Now, he has moved away from the premier class of motorsport, and the Dutchman now prefers to be involved in his own rallying races these days, rather than flying around the world to watch Formula 1 racing with his own eyes.
Jos Verstappen enjoys life outside Formula One
Verstappen senior says he wants the best for Max. "If I go, I go for Max. I come to support him, to have a chat, and just show that I'm there for him."
But Verstappen is just as happy at home, where he is father and grandfather Jos. "Everyone has their own life, but we all see each other quite a lot, and that's just nice. A nice environment at home is just as important."
