Marko explains Perez's exit: 'Something didn't click there anymore'

Despite not having the dominant car for the better of the season, Max Verstappen still took home his fourth consecutive Formula 1 title. And he did it even earlier than expected. However, his team, Red Bull Racing, could not secure their part of the championship; the constructors. Red Bull Advisor Helmut Marko pinpoints exactly where the team went wrong.
Marko points out a sore spot at Red Bull
The season ended on a bittersweet note for Red Bull as they were happy about winning the drivers' title but not the constructors'. They finished third behind both McLaren and Ferrari. According to Marko, Perez's disappointing performance cost the team precious points.
"It is very sad; it hurts. The tipping point was that the difference between Max and Checo in the championship was 282 points, while the difference between rival drivers was much smaller. That explains why we lost the constructors' championship," Marko told Kleine Zeitung.
On the topic of Perez's exit from the team, he said, "There has been a certain decline in his performance, although the overall balance has been positive over the years. In 2021, he contributed a lot to Max's first world title, he won a total of five Grands Prix and finished second in the world championship. Now, however, something didn't click between this car and his driving style."
