'Ayrton Senna monument in Imola gets vandalised'

The Ayrton Sennaq momument in Imola was damaged on multiple occasions last month, according to Italian media. The statue itself remained intact, but the area around it was destroyed.
In 1994, F1 tragically lost Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna on 30 April and 1 May. A monument was erected in honour of the Brazilian world champion in the outskirts of the Italian track, where several commemorations take place every year when the F1 grid arrives.
'Senna Imola monument damaged'
The monument features a statue of Senna and many flags and banners haning on the fence next to it. According to Italian FormulaPassion, the memorial site was vandalised on both 19 and 24 December. The statue remained intact, but several flags and banners were burnt.
Italian medium Il Resto del Carlino reports that the instigators were young locals who were drinking before a night out.
