Verstappen on crucial moments: 'It's easy to just throw in the towel'
As a four-time World Champion, Max Verstappen is a great role model for many young drivers hoping to reach Formula 1 one day. The Red Bull Racing driver has given some tips to budding drivers that focus on resilience and how to work towards solutions in tough times.
Verstappen gives clear advice for young drivers
"You have to believe in yourself first of all, and there will be a lot of tough moments. Of course, maybe sometimes it doesn’t look like you know it's happening, or you know, it's not going the right way. But you need a lot of self-belief that you can do it. You need to believe you're the best one out there and that anything is possible; you have to work hard, you know. You have to work hard on track off track, trying to always be, trying to be better basically," Verstappen said in a conversation with Sportskeeda.
He continued, “You need to have the right people around you. They need to guide you as well. When you're a young kid, you cannot figure everything out by yourself.”
The 27-year-old Dutch driver also has some advice for novice drivers who are going through a rough patch. According to Verstappen, it is important to join hands with the team and work together on a solution. As an example, he refers to the 2024 Formula 1 season in which Red Bull struggled, but Verstappen managed to hold onto his world title. “In tough times, it's easy to just throw in the towel, you know, and say, ‘Well, that's it, you know, our season is not going to be great’. But actually, then that's the moment we have to step up, and you have to work together, you know, work hard to try and find solutions. And that's what we did,” the four-time world champion concludes.
