Adrian Newey reveals: What's in his famous red notebook?
Top designer Adrian Newey usually walks up and down the grid with a red notebook, as he looks at what their rivals prepared. The former Red Bull employee, deep in his thought often writes down notes. Newey has now revealed what exactly he looks at in those moments, and what makes it that red notebook.
What's in Newey's book?
Adrian Newey's notebook would be one sought after by many up and down the Formula One grid, as they would not mind taking a look at his insights and ideas. Now, Aston Martin will have access to it, where the Briton can begin working in entering March.
Talking to Auto, Motor und Sport, Newey gave an insight to his process on the grid. "It's normal to try and look at what other people are up to," he began.
"Occasionally, I will then take this back to the guys at the factory and see, 'Look. Notice this? Could be worth copying. Let's try it on our car, see what they are at.'"
Moreover, the Briton also often tries to guess the thought process behind what their rivals brought to track: "Other times, I'm using it more to sort of think, 'Ok, they have gone down this direction. What are they trying to achieve?' And then, it's the target of what somebody might be trying to achieve rather than the specific detail of how they have achieved it that interests me," Newey concluded.
