On Monday night, a Legends' dinner was held as part of the preparat4ion prior to the F1 75 Live event at the O2 arena, commemorating F1's three quarter of a century of activity. Fernando Alonso attended the dinner with various emblematic F1 personalities, which did not count with the presence of Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, for instance.

'Max and Lewis too busy to make it'

"I was the only contemporary driver there. I think Lewis and Max were busy last night," said Alonso to select media present, including GPBlog. "I had the opportunity to see a lot of familiar faces. It was good to see Giancarlo Minardi, my first boss. Bernie [Eccelstone, Luca Di Montezemolo which obviously they have a good friendship. Legend, Mario Andretti was there who I admired so much," added the Spaniard.

"It was good and I think Formula 1, especially with the 75th anniversary they tried to do some action and some cool stuff," said Alonso of the initiative behind the dinner. When asked about any potential gossips that may have been discussed during the event, the Spaniard revealed that a rather interesting dynamic was indeed held.

Icons do time machine for F1's 100th anniversary

"Maybe one gossip and one thing that we did there was we wrote on a piece of paper, a phrase or whatever you wanted to put and they closed the box and it will be opened in 25 years, the 100th anniversary of Formula 1."

"It will be nice for the next generation, who may still be in the sport, to open that box and see what is written there. But let's imagine that 25 years ago, the generation of champions back then, they wrote something, it would be nice to read it now. So I think it was a good idea," concluded Alonso.
