Teams will not have the easiest of times in China, as similarly to the previous season, it is a Sprint weekend. After only 60 minutes of practice time, the teams would have to figure out how to set up their cars the best way possible for the track with fresh asphalt.
The previous season, it was Lando Norris who topped this session at the Shanghai International Circuit in the rain. The Briton and now championship-leader could perform just as well in such conditions in Australia a week ago, however this Friday, he will not have to deal with that.
Max Verstappen and Red Bull are once again looking to mitigate their issues with the RB21, that overheated the tyres last Sunday in Australia. Ferrari are also looking to bounce back after only collecting five points in Melbourne.
In terms of the rookies, only Andrea Kimi Antonelli had a positive Sunday last weekend. Therefore, while many would like to make people forget about their debuts, they will also have to deal with a lack of practice sessions this Friday.
