Kimi Raikkonen understands that "he’s not at Ferrari or Mercedes"
Despite Kimi Raikkonen's status as the oldest Formula 1 driver on the grid, the iceman is as determined as ever and is driving Alfa Romeo for more performance and results. At a smaller team, Raikkonen seems to be enjoying himself more and has fewer media responsibilities than when he was at Ferrari. He understands the difficulties of smaller teams and is enjoying the challenge.
“He understands that he’s not at Ferrari or Mercedes and everything can’t be fixed in two weeks,” Alfa Romeo team boss Fred Vasseur told Autosport. “The most important for me was to make sure he was committed.
“Committed means he will be present at the factory, he will push the guys, he will be demanding. I want to have someone in the team pushing for results.
“It’s a good situation for the engineers also and it’s important."
Raikkonen is pushing for success and is inspiring the rest of the team. He will hope that he can continue to do this after the summer break.
