For most of the season, the TV cameras followed the action at the front of the pack as Lewis Hamilton won a sixth World Championship. However, Sergio Perez has voiced his frustration at the midfield battle not getting more attention.

Hamilton clinched a sixth World Championship in comfortable fashion but the midfield battle was anything but a formality in 2019. McLaren eventually came through as best of the rest but the likes of Renault and Haas, favourites at the start of the year, had differing fortunes.

Several key battles involving Carlos Sainz, Lando Norris and Perez himself were missed out at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as the cameras focused on Lewis Hamilton's victory.

"The races are great in midfield," Perez said as quoted by Motorsport.com.

"The problem is that they don't show it on television. I think the directors didn't do well. The midfield racing is incredible.

"It's a fantastic sport, but viewers would love to see such to see a fight and not to know who will win. I would like to see that as a fan," the Mexican added.
