Verstappen had trouble with a lot of rain: "Q3 was a really difficult session for
In qualifying for the Styrian Grand Prix Max Verstappen had to settle for second place behind Lewis Hamilton. Verstappen was quite satisfied and he doesn't think he could have been faster than the world champion.
"I think qualifying was generally good. Q1 was so busy, you couldn't see at all, so you had to leave a little space. So I haven't had a free round in the whole Q1. The conditions weren't so bad then, but with these cars you really can't see anything when someone's in front of you for six seconds," Verstappen said.
Verstappen had trouble with a lot of water
"It started raining harder towards the end of Q2. Especially in the second sector this made the car very difficult to drive. In Q3 this continued and that was a really difficult session for me. A lot of standing water, which made me lose a lot of grip. It just didn't feel as good as before".
The Red Bull Racing driver then explains what went wrong on the final lap. "Someone went into the pits, I couldn't even see who it was. As a result I had some understeer and came out wide on the kerb at the end of the race. There I lost control and went into the last corner with a four wheel drift".
