In the opening race last week McLaren driver Lando Norris took a podium place, but last weekend's race is 'his best ever' in the eyes of the Englishman.

At the Steiermark Grand Prix last weekend, the number three of the week before seemed to be heading for P8, until the crazy final stage. In the last two laps of the race he drove to fifth place, passing Daniel Ricciardo, Sergio Perez and Lance Stroll.

"It was a strong race of mine", said Norris in conversation with the official channels of Formula 1. "Probably my best race I've ever driven in Formula 1. I'm very happy to see how much progress I've made compared to last season".

Sentenced to overtaking race

Norris started in ninth place, after he got a grid penalty of three spots for ignoring the yellow flag. That's why he was sentenced to an overtaking race, which he did with verve. Especially his overtaking by Daniel Ricciardo in turn three received a lot of compliments. "I was a bit lucky there. I had to brake very deep and used the slipstream of Stroll. I was a bit nervous about what was going to happen".
